When we first ran the story, back in february, that IBG Models were releasing two variants of the German Einheitsdiesel Truck, it caused a very positive reaction. Of the two, from a modeling point of view, the most interesting is probably the Einheitsdiesel Funk (Telephone vehicle). This had a wooden shelter-type body and inside a wide range of communications equipment.
However, if you're planning to get the maximum out of the kit, there was a need to scratchbuild the myriad of telephone terminals and switchboards which would require some serious work and considerable research. Now though, IBG Models have announced a COMPLETE interior for the model.
This is being done by the Polish manufacturer, Niko Model who are pretty unknown to AFV modelers as their previous work has been entirely concentrated on Warship models.
The First Update set is for:
35003 - Einheitsdiesel Pritschenwagen (Metal-Body Cargo) and consists of both Resin and PE parts. Covering mainly the cab area, the set also includes items such as a new lifting jack, personal weapons and items such as the Jerrycan holders. The new set's number is: IN-06
The SECOND Update set, for 35004 - Einheitsdiesel Kfz.61 Fernsprechbetriebskraftwagen (Heavy Telephone Truck with shelter-type body) will cover three areas:
1) The Comms: Resin parts will cover the various switchboards etc.
2) Additional Details: PE parts will update areas such as the dashboard and internal window frames.
3) The Floors: Laser cut (wooden) parts will provide the new floor for the vehicle.
The Sets have no release date listed as yet, although from the images, it seems to be well-advanced.
It will be available from IBG Models who are working together with Niko Model on its development.
More updates as they become available.Meanwhile, look at the photos at the side.
My thanks to Jaroslaw Leoniec of IBG Models for the Update!
